Harrop Road

New private house in Hale

The existing detached house on Harrop Road is one of the most iconic settings in Hale, set within a generously landscaped plot containing a unique observatory which Sir Patrick Moore often visited. The structure housed the (then) largest telescope in Europe, which is now displayed in the Museum of Manchester.

The proposal is for a new family home that is based on a traditional vernacular with modern detailing that will take full advantage of its setting. Careful consideration of the site’s constraints and contextual surroundings have been taken into account to ensure that the proposed development responds to its context. Architecturally led, the scheme creates an intelligent and contemporary response to the site and associated planning constraints.

The project was completed in 2018.
