Brookhouse Terrace

The New Jerusalem Church and the streets surrounding Brookhouse Terrace are a surviving relic of Victorian Wigan.  Our proposals for a 28 bedroom care home treat the existing church with sensitivity and care, breathing life back into the building with a sustainable use that helps meet Wigan’s growing demand for adult social care. The new-build element maximises the proposed accommodation on the site whilst also recognising the scale of the surrounding terraced streets and the retained chapel. A comprehensive landscape strategy with planting that climbs and cascades over facades, imbues the site with a verdant character, softening hard edges and extending the landscape amenity beyond the ground plane.
